FAQ

FinLoc Renovations frequently asked questions

What is the best material for a particular job?

It is a big part of the construction job to advise the customer in this area, e.g., What’s the best type of flooring? What’s the best type of decking? What’s the best and recommended insulation for a particular area.

What is the best way to do a job?

When it comes to this, we at FinLoc have a large amount of knowledge and will advise you on what we think is the best way to collaborate the whole project from a cosmetic point of view. The final decision is yours, of course.

How long will the job take?

Before the project commences, we will give you a completion date. Due to unforeseen setbacks, it often happens that it can go on for a little longer. We can guarantee you that we will not leave the project at a standstill. We start and stay until completion.

Which suppliers do I go to to view materials, e.g., Internal doors, wooden floors, tiles, etc.?

Your materials must be sourced from quality suppliers. For years, being in this industry has helped us develop a strong relationship with such. We can advise the client on where to go and view each product. We can give contact names on who to deal with, and when it comes to ordering your materials, dealing with timeframes, etc., we can take care of all that for you.

How much will the job cost?

At the initial stages, I can give the client an estimated figure for your project. This is just an estimate so what I prefer to do then is get as much detail as I possibly can (this helps cut down on extras at the end of the project) and put a detailed quote together. I usually forward this quote to the client. If we proceed with the project, this written quotation is valuable for referring to.

Will there be much disturbance while the project is ongoing?

The amount of disturbance during the project depends on the type of work being carried out. If the project involves changes to the inside of your home, there can be quite an amount of disturbance. If it adds on an extension or any external work, the disturbance is minimal. The secret here is good dialogue with you, the client, all materials in place, having the necessary tradesman ready to go, and getting the job done as quickly and efficiently as possible with good planning.

What is the best way to increase the B.E.R. rating in my home?

Improving your B.E.R. will increase your home’s comfort, value, and energy efficiency while saving on energy bills and reducing carbon emissions. We can carry out a B.E.R. test on your home, which in turn will pinpoint precisely where you are losing heat etc. We will then advise on the insulation best suited for the job.

What size can I extend my existing dwelling without Planning Permission?

This is a very common question. We can advise you on what square meterage you can add to your property’s front, sides, and back without planning permission. What is the maximum height you can build without planning permission? Whether it’s a residential or rural build, we can advise you on all planning guidelines.
